Sound Mind Smoothie

Recipe: Sound Mind Smoothie by Sound Nutrition featuring FreshCap Lion’s Mane Mushroom

This refreshing smoothie is packed with ingredients that promote health, creativity and focus, and has no added sugar—meaning no crash midway through your songwriting session. This recipe makes enough for 1 lead singer, 1 guitarist, 1 bassist, and 1 drummer.

Smoothie Base Recipe (serves 4):

5 large chopped ripe frozen bananas

1 large avocado, pit removed

3 cups loosely packed pre-washed baby spinach

3 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk (can also use unsweetened unflavored almond milk + 1 tsp vanilla extract)

1 cup packed fresh mint leaves (if unavailable, can increase peppermint extract to ~1.5 tsp)

1 scoop vegan vanilla protein powder, optional (I used Orgain and also love Sprout Living, if not using, may opt for a packet of stevia)

3/4 tsp peppermint extract

4 strawberries, optional, for garnish

Adaptogenic Cacao Drizzle Recipe (serves ~4-5):

5 Medjool Dates, pitted

2/3 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1 1/2 Tbsp unsweetened non-alkalized cocoa or raw cacao powder

1 1/2 Tbsp warm water

2 scoops FreshCap Organic Powdered Lion’s Mane

1/4 tsp sea salt or Himalayan pink salt

Directions:

For Drizzle:

1. Pour warm water over pitted medjool dates (in blender) to soften.

2. Add all remaining drizzle ingredients to blender and pulse until smooth. Additional water can be added in small quantities to reach desired “chocolate sauce” consistency.

3. Drizzle ~1-1.5 TBSP of drizzle along the inside of each clear cup

For Smoothie:

Blend all smoothie base ingredients until smooth. Additional almond milk can be added to achieve desired consistency. 

Serve: Pour smoothie into pre-drizzled cup. Add ~.5 TBSP additional drizzle on top and garnish with a strawberry
